What I really liked about Windows 8 is the aesthetics of the new interface. It feels very natural to open your charms bar, change windows, and see your app options all by the swipe of the screen. With this, Windows becomes more mobilized and easy to use on a touch screen as apposed to Windows 7. I also loved how I could customize my start menu for school. I had a whole system going! I had a panel for my daily apps such as my planner and mail apps, a panel for Microsoft Office, a panel for on-the-go games, and another panel for my at-home apps. It's very nice to have everything read out to me right then and there- at my start menu.
However, I did have a few issues. Windows 8 is supposed to be mobile, right? Well I have a 2-in-1 tablet PC that folds over, a Lenovo Yoga 2. The problem is, Windows 8 can't decide whether it wants to be a tablet or a laptop! When I'm in tablet mode, the Start menu seems very pleasing to use with touch, but some applications I start up run on the desktop. Now keep in mind, the desktop isn't really fun to use on a touch screen. Windows 8 needs to know when it's being used as a tablet or a laptop. You can transition from one to the other, but I don't like running a desktop, something that's meant for a mouse, on a touchscreen!
In a nutshell, Windows 8 is more apt for kids and teenagers, people that are able to explore and utilize the possibilities and features of something completely new. Adults know us. We catch on really quickly.
That reminds me. If you like Windows 7 over Windows 8, Windows 10 is on the horizon! It will feel like Windows 7 and 8 combined into something that desktop users won't find that difficult to use. I'm using the technical preview as I type this. I use the technical preview to give feedback to the Microsoft team to help make something that won't "flop like Windows 8 did".
Anyways, bye!
